Solar hot water incentives
There are a number of schemes and incentives available that can add up to substantial savings. AGL can offer a discount on solar hot water systems upfront through a REC buy back scheme.
To be eligible for a incentive, your solar hot water system must:
- Replace an electric storage hot water system
- Be purchased and installed on, or after 3 February 2009
- Be a solar or heat pump hot water system that is eligible for at least 20 Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) at the time and place of installation; and
- Be installed by a suitably qualified person (for example an electrician or plumber).

Federal Government Incentives
Non-means tested incentives of $1600 on hot water systems that replace electric storage hot water systems in existing privately owned homes.
RECs buy back incentives
Each solar hot water system is rated and worth a certain amount of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). AGL Assist can purchase these RECs from you and pass this on as a discount upfront when you purchase a system.
