Solar hot water systems

Depending on your location and the type of house you have, there are three options available which are also eligible for incentives.

Thermosiphon Systems

With this system:

  • Both the hot water tank and solar collectors are located on your roof.
  • The solar panels contain cold water, and once heated, the water rises into the tank where it is stored.
  • The water is then pumped back down to the house.

Split System

With this system:

  • The solar collectors are located on your roof and your water tank on the ground.
  • A pump on the ground pumps water to the panels on the roof where it is heated before returning back to the tank.
  • Split systems contain a booster to make sure you have hot water regardless of the weather.

Heat pumps

With this system:

  • There are no solar panels.
  • An efficient heat pump extracts heat from the surrounding air to heat water.
  • Heat pumps have an electric back up function for when it’s cold.
