You’re probably aware of the electricity meter at your property, which registers how much electricity you’ve used. Because solar power uses different technology, it may be necessary to update your meter and switchboard so they can register the solar electricity you generate and feed into the grid.
What you need to know about getting a new meter
- If you do need a new meter you should be notified upfront at your property inspection (before your system is installed).
- There will be a cost attached to uninstalling your current meter and installing a new one.
- Where a new meter is installed, your electricity tariffs may change. Please call us on 131 245 for more information if you are an AGL customer.
- We can advise you of the necessary requirements for your new meter and help with the process, but the installation must be arranged with your Distributor in all states except NSW, where you’ll need an Accredited Service Provider (ASP).
